Consultation for Trained Therapists

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Consultation is a collaborative professional relationship where a trained or certified EMDR therapist seeks guidance from an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant or Consultant in Training (CIT)

Unlike general clinical supervision, EMDR consultation focuses specifically on the fidelity, skill, and integration of the 8-phase EMDR protocol into a therapist's clinical practice.

The Purpose of Consultation:

Consultation serves three primary functions for psychotherapists:

Skill Mastery: Moving beyond the "mechanics" of EMDR basic training to develop a fluid, intuitive grasp of the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model.

Clinical Support: Getting expert guidance on complex cases, such as "stuck" processing, dissociative symptoms, or high-risk populations or what to do when you as a clinician face fear, imposter syndrome or burnout.

Certification: Fulfilling the mandatory hours required by EMDRIA to become an EMDRIA Certified Therapist. Consultee’s can do up to 15 hours with a CIT(Consultant in Training) and must complete at least 5 hours with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.

I trained in EMDR in 2021, I was certified in 2023 and have been in ongoing consultation and learning ever since. I love to “nerd out” on EMDR, neuroscience and all things related to conceptualizing cases. Two or more brains are always better than one in figuring out what is going on with your case to collaboratively work out the processing problems and blocks.
